BookTube Newbie Challenge

If you didn’t know, I recently launched my very own BookTube channel (eeeek!), and to kick things off, I took part in the BookTube Newbie Tag Challenge. It’s a fun way for new creators to introduce themselves and connect with the bookish community—and since I know not everyone watches YouTube, I thought I’d share my answers here on the blog too.

So, whether you're already part of the romantasy chaos or just curious about who I am and why I scream about fictional people on the internet... here we go!

Because I’ve lived in fantasy worlds my whole life—reading them, writing them, getting attached to emotionally unavailable men with tragic backstories—and I wanted a space to connect with others who get it.

You know, the kind of people who would 100% marry a vampire, adopt a baby dragon, and write passionate essays defending their favourite morally grey character.

I’m an author, which means I can offer behind-the-scenes insight into the writing and publishing process—especially for indie romantasy. I’m also disabled, partially sighted, and a huge fan of messy, strong female leads.

Expect a bit of everything: chaotic book hauls, spicy quote readings, author meltdowns, emotional spirals over fictional deaths, and lots of love for indie books and underhyped gems.

Honestly? Finding my people.

I’m so ready to meet fellow readers and writers who love dragons, found family, queer slow burns, and the delicious tension of enemies-to-lovers. And, of course, having a space where I can yell about books and plug my own without shame.

Books have been my lifeline more times than I can count.

Reading is escape, yes—but it’s also a way to feel seen. It’s crying over a fictional death like you lost a real friend, and finding comfort in a character’s flaws because they remind you of yourself. Books raised me. Books saved me. And now I write them hoping they’ll offer that same refuge to someone else.

It started with The Enchanted Horse, then I fell headfirst into Harry Potter, and eventually spiralled into full-blown romantasy obsession with ACOTAR and From Blood and Ash.

Basically, give me magic, angst, swords, and just a dash of questionable romantic choices, and I’m in.

How do you resist buying every indie romantasy you see online?

How do you deal with all the content creation and scheduling?

(Asking for a friend. The friend is me.)

Balance. Always balance.

I’m a writer, a mum, a reader, and now a BookTuber, which means my to-do list is a hydra. Add in chronic fatigue and neurodivergence and… yeah. Send tea. And snacks. And a time-turner if you’ve got one.

Also, trying not to spiral over video views? Definitely still working on that.

Since I could hold a book, basically. I was the kid sneaking books into family dinners and reading under the covers with a torch.

Anywhere I can.

Sofa, bed, bath, car, standing in the kitchen while something cooks—if I can steal a moment, I’ll use it to read. Audiobooks are a lifesaver these days for multitasking and chronic illness days.

Romantasy is my home base. But I also devour fantasy romance, morally grey disasters with tragic backstories, sapphic slow burns, found family dynamics, “who did this to you” energy, magic, heartbreak, and spice.

If it makes me laugh and cry and want to throw the book across the room? That’s the one.

So that’s me—your local chaos gremlin with a romantasy obsession and a soft spot for fictional disasters who need therapy.

If you love indie books, emotionally repressed love interests, and screaming over slow-burn spice, you’ll fit right in over on my channel.

What book broke you most recently? I’m always looking for new emotional damage.

Until next time—stay magical, friends.
